One of my all time favorite things to do is travel. We usually try to see at least one new country and one new U.S. city each year, and last year we checked out two U.S. cities (
St. Augustine and
San Francisco -
Wine Country) without any new stamps on the passport so I'm determined to break it back out this year.
Booked
We haven't done much planning or research yet for 2018, but we do have a beach house booked with friends who will be bringing along their toddler for a joint family beach weekend in
Siesta Key. Living in Florida for over 7 years, and believe it or not I still have not been to what is considered the most beautiful beach in the continental U.S. Can't wait!
Preliminary Planning
Our preliminary plans that we've tossed around are another weekend in a new U.S. city as a family or just the 2 of us, and an international tropical vacay just the 2 of us while my mom watches lil' miss which she always jumps at the chance for. It's a win-win. We get much needed couple time, and Serena gets quality nana time.
U.S. Cities on our mind
Denver - a Rockies game, hiking, some brewery hopping, and of course Red Rocks Amphitheater.
Nashville - this would be an adults only trip so we can take in the live music and pop in and out of bars along the way.
International Beaches and Resorts on our mind
Costa Rica - Beaches, hiking, waterfalls, zip lining, and beautiful resorts? Yes please!
Turks and Caicos - Ever since we missed our cruise stop a few years ago and wrote off sailing with Carnival ever again (a full recap on their deplorable customer service can be found
here), we've been itching to check out this beautiful island. Check out that water!
Of course we always have cruising on the mind as well. We'd love to check out a new to us Royal Caribbean ship or finally check out Princess or Celebrity.
Emily and I have also been talking about a girls trip to
Charleston since it's within driving distance and neither of us have ever been. If you'd like to join, let us know!
Traveling in style, but remaining comfortable is also key. I used to show up to the airport in the comfiest clothes possible, which left me sometimes looking frumpier than I would have liked. I now tend to reach for comfy dresses or cozy chic pieces like leggings over jeans, because who wants to wear jeans on a long flight?
I can't rave enough about
this dress (which now comes in 6 colors, and I kind of want them all)! It's super flattering, and was insanely comfortable for a cross-country flight to San Francisco and hitting the ground running site seeing as soon as we checked in and dropped off our luggage. And as if you haven't heard me talk about my favorite rose gold
Superstars they were perfect for running through airports and climbing the giant hills.
FYI size down as they run pretty large.
My fav
faux leather leggings are also super comfy for traveling, and sitting for long periods of time. They can be easily dressed up or down with a pair of slip ons or a fabulous pair of heels once you get to your destination and want to check out a great place to eat or grab a drink.
