Sunday Social ~ Childhood Flashbacks

Sunday Social ~ Childhood Flashbacks

Happy Sunday! Linkin' up with Ashley and Neely for Sunday Social.

1. What do you miss most about being a kid?

~ Having no responsibility! Not worrying about bills, going to work every day, etc.. Everything was always new and exciting and I was naive to the real world. You trusted everyone and believed in everything.

2. Did you have a nickname growing up? What was it?

~ In high school everyone called me Briggs and that's also when "Kutie" was formed. Since my name is Kate.. it's cutie with a "K". Sounds so cheesy, but I love it!

3. What was your favorite thing to do at recess?

~ The monkey bars! I went to private school where we had to wear dresses or skirts, so since me and all my friends hung out at the monkey bars learning new flips the teachers started mandating that we wore bicycle shorts or leggings underneath our skirts/dresses so when we did flips and stuff we were still "modest". Haha... the things you don't think about in elementary school. I'd be horrified now!

4. What did you want to be when you grew up?

~ An astronaut! I was so intrigued by space and was soooo excited when the movie Apollo 13 came out with Tom Hanks. I pictured myself going to the moon or working on the international space station. I wanted to go to Space Camp soooo bad but it was redonkulously expensive!

5. What was your favorite toy?

I looooved my Magic Nursery dolls! I used to love the mystery of not knowing if you'd get a boy or a girl or if you'd end up with twins! One of the girls in my class got twins and I was sooo jealous. I always ended up with girls but never got twins where they send you another identical doll in the mail.

6. What is the funniest thing you did as a kid that your parents still remind you about?

~ When my next door neighbor and I decided to play "beauty parlor". I cut off all her bangs and she cut off a big chunk of my hair on the side in the front. Needless to say we were never allowed to play beauty parlor again, and we weren't even allowed to work on crafts that involved scissors lol.

Happy Sunday!

Fall Blog Swap Goodies

Fall Blog Swap Goodies

Happy Friday!! The weekend is finally here! :)

I was a super happy girl when I got my package from my fall blog swap partner Julie the other day. She packed in so many fall goodies that I can't wait to start enjoying!

My favorite item just may be the pumpkin flavored coffee syrup... YUM!

She seriously sent me everything fall related! A pumpkin candle, dark nail polish, apple cinnamon oatmeal, hot cocoa, tea, candy, soup, and even a pumpkin beer!

I've already painted my nails with some of my new polish. This pic doesn't do the color justice, it's really pretty.

It's OK that....

~ I almost threw a hissy fit because I thought the DVR didn't pick up this week's episode of Revolution... but it did *phew*

~ I loooooove living in FL but I'm very much looking forward to the fall weather when we fly up for sis-in-law's wedding. I love that we can have it for a few days and I can break out my scarves and boots and see the foliage, but come back to beach weather. Best of both worlds!

~ I'm super nervous that they're not going to end How I Met Your Mother or The Office on the right note. I'd hate to see two amazingly used to be hilarious shows not go out with a bang.

~ I wait until I get several renewal notices before I finally renew my magazine subscriptions. Seriously they send a bazillion of them!

~ I'm still craving the Pinnacle Pumpkin Pie vodka from last weekend. Flingin' flangin' delicious!

~ I'm overwhelmed with how many house projects I'd still like to see get done in the near future. Why doesn't money grow on trees? *sigh*

~ I'm already planning our Christmas party in December...

~ Most of my ideas for said party are from Pinterest

~ I wish Pinterest existed before I planned my wedding... for realz!

~ Sometimes I'd like to throw H's xbox out the window 0:-)

What's OK in your life today?

Not so Fall Weekend

Not so Fall Weekend

The official first day of fall was Saturday, and what better way to celebrate than to go to a waterpark? Have I mentioned lately how much I love FL? Yes? :-P

It was one of our friend's b-days this weekend so his wife organized an outing for us to all go to the waterpark and then out that evening.

When we got to the waterpark, the first thing on the birthday boy's mind was where to get a beer. So we all got a beer and then played a game of beach volleyball. Girls against guys.. and guess who won? The ladies of course! ;)

We then started hitting up the waterslides and there was even a place to cliff jump into the water... so much fun! Unfortunately, I don't have any pics of our fun times inside the park until we got back to our lockers.

Someone brought the birthday boy some Pinnacle Pumpkin Pie which is hands down the most delicious vodka I've ever tasted. It's like fall in a glass! DELISH!

Sunday, was a lazy day. I made pancakes from scratch, got my flu shot, and spent the rest of the day watching football.

Sunday Social

Sunday Social

Happy Sunday! Poppin' in to link up with Ashley and Neely for Sunday Social.

1. What is something you have wanted to do but are afraid of?

~ Going back to school for my masters degree. I know I should do it sooner than later, but I love coming home after work and relaxing and not having to worry about studying and research papers. I'm so proud of H who started his grad program this fall. Love him and admire him!

2. Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

~ Hopefully our little family will have expanded from just me, H, and Roxy. We'd like to have 2-3 kids, but who knows what God has in store for us. I also hope to have taken the initiative to get my masters degree by then.

3. What are you looking forward to by the end of 2012?

~ My SIL's wedding, planning our European Vacation (minus the Clark W. Griswold antics!), and making more progress on decorating our house.

4. What are your hopes for your blog?

~ I love watching my little blog grow and I hope it continues to and that I can keep my readers engaged to what little or a lot I have to say. I also hope I can continue to encourage readers to be more environmentally conscious and to practice safe sun :)

5. Do you always see yourself living in your current town/city?

~ I was born and raised in Connecticut and so was my H. We moved down to Florida 2 years ago (a dream we both always had) and you couldn't put enough zeros in our paychecks for us to move back. We absolutely love it here! We bought our first house last year, and we hope it's our "forever house". The only move we see again in the future would be retiring at the beach.

You can't beat the much lower cost of living, eliminating winters, and being in close proximity to the Keys, Disney World, cruise ports, and countless beautiful beaches. There's so much to do and it's almost always gorgeous out!

6. What is your morning routine?

~ During the week, it's pretty simple. I get up, use the bathroom, wash my face, brush my toofers, go downstairs, let the dog out, pack my lunch and H's lunch, and head back upstairs to get dressed and do my makeup.

~ On the weekends, I like to lay in bed and relax for a while before getting up since I'm always in such a rush during the week. H usually goes and gets Roxy and she comes in and jumps up to give me kisses. Then we all head downstairs where I make us a hot breakfast. I usually make eggs, pancakes, or french toast on the weekends and then we'll sit outside on the patio and enjoy the morning together. LOVE!

Happy Sunday!

Happy 1st Day of Fall!

Happy 1st Day of Fall!

A lot of people like to jump the gun on fall as soon as Labor Day Weekend has passed, but I've always refused to embrace the amazingness that is pumpkin anything until it's officially fall. Especially since it'll feel like summer here for at least another month, but that doesn't mean that I can't decorate and make my house look and smell like fall ;)

Ringing in the new season

Waiting to be filled with yummy candy

It's officially fall when Roxy starts wishing everyone a Happy Halloween. Before we know it she'll be wearing her Christmas bells!

Now that it's fall, I've decorated the house in celebration of it plus it smells of delicious pumpkin and apple goodness!

Happy Fall! :)

Happy Friday!

Happy Friday!

Happy Friday! It's time for happy hours, sleeping in, and some fun in the sun :)

I'm super excited to be heading to the water park this weekend and celebrating another friend's birthday. Seriously it's been birthday central here lately!

I'm also excited to announce that I'm officially in the progress of a total blog overhaul. Stay tuned for some big changes around there parts! ;)

Have a fantabulous weekend!

It's OK that...

~ I'm a wee bit excited about all the nostalgia that is Old Navy commercials lately.. 90210 alums and now Backstreet Boys? Yes please!

~ I'm also a wee bit excited that The Cosby Show is on TV Land

~ I worked out extra this week since we're going to the waterpark with friends on Saturday.

~ I wish I could have enjoyed some of the buffalo dip I made for H to take to his guys night last night. Yummmmy!

~ My nail guy had to take out the "cheese grater" on my feet at my pedicure last night. I should NOT be waiting that long inbetween pedis. Yipes!

~ I thoroughly enjoyed having PB&J for dinner since I didn't have to cook for H :)

~ I may have majored in Political Science in college, but I'm totally over all the political ad bashing. Things have changed so much since my heart was in it and only for the negative. So sad..

~ I ordered hot curlers because I still can't get the hang of curling my hair with a curling iron :-P

What's OK with you today?
