Friday started off bright and early to hit the road to get down to Key West by early afternoon which meant all the coffee. After sitting in frustrating traffic getting onto the Keys and all the way through the upper Keys, we finally arrived and checked into the beautiful Southernmost Guest House. Pamela stays here every year and she truly found a diamond in the rough. Such a hidden gem tucked away at the end of Duval Street!
After some hammock time, and a beach side drink it was time to get ready to hit Duval Street for our first night in Key West. But look at how relaxing it was to lay in the hammock and look at those beautiful palm trees?
Pamela took us to The Rum Bar where we had the best rum runners I've ever tasted!
Then we made our way down Duval Street for some more fun and drinks.... and yes we brought those koozies everywhere!
Saturday morning I enjoyed a delicious breakfast at the hotel, and walked down to the Southernmost Beach with my coffee to sit on the pier before heading to Dantes for some 4th of July pool party action.
Only in Key West (and New Orleans!):
Afterwards, it was time to head to Sloppy Joes for some food, before stopping by the Mile 0 sign and another dip in the hotel pool. Then it was time for my favorite - the fireworks! Watching them be set off over the beach in Key West was such an amazing experience.
Waters with fancy straws that Kerri brought. My biggest advice when traveling to Key West especially in the summer is to drink tons of water and reapply sunscreen as much as possible. We thought we reapplied enough, and still got burnt *womp womp*.
Sunday was boat day! We chartered a boat out to Snipes Point which is about 18 miles off the coast of Key West with some of the most beautiful water I've ever seen. It rivaled the water in the Bahamas and even in Fiji. Simply gorgeous!
I mean... that water! How picturesque is this place?!
Such an amazing day capped off with some Mexican food on Duval Street, but they will go down in history as the place that doesn't serve queso...
Monday, it was time to pack up the car and head home after one last yummy breakfast at the hotel. Best complimentary breakfast I've ever had!
Driving home with this view isn't so bad:
