The Gang's All Here

The Gang's All Here

I mentioned the other day the annual Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is not my favorite (I know I know - you can go ahead and revoke my blogger card right now!). I actually prefer their Half Yearly Sale, because I don't feel sick of it before it even begins and wear warm weather pieces 90% of the year. But outside of our "blog bubble" most of my family and friends haven't even heard of the NSale. So, we're the lucky ones who are exhausted just thinking about it before it even begins. However, there are many great items on sale that you can enjoy now, are classic pieces, are closet staples for years to come, and great affordable basics. I've included lots of wearable and affordable items below, and I even included some toddler pieces I'm eyeing for Lil' Miss like these adorable boots. Everything I've listed below is under $100 with the exception of 1 pair of boots and a Tory Burch bag because they are a huge closet staples and you'll save hundreds of dollars on them if you decide to pull the trigger.

In past years, I've picked up a gorgeous royal blue Michael Kors raincoat, Marc Jacobs sunglasses (which Nordstrom has kindly replaced not once but TWICE), Kate Spade earrings, Vince Camuto ankle booties, basic tees like this one for only $11, and lots of gifts for others at great prices that I still use regularly. Be on the lookout for those staple items and classic pieces that you can snag at a great discount.

Because 2020 has been extra special and unique, we've all been living in athleisure and PJ's for the most part (which I'm not mad about) so I included lots of cozy pieces for around the house. This pajama set looks dreamy, a warm pair of slippers are always a great idea, and I can't get enough pairs of joggers which are great for at home, long flights, and trips to Target. A graphic tank that mentions champagne? Yes please! And once the temps drop, I can see myself lounging on the couch with a good book or binging Netflix in this sweatshirt and yoga leggings. And of course I'm adding this Free People top which layers great over a sports bra or a lace bralette.

For those few and far between (these days) wine tastings or brunch with the girls, I have all the heart eyes for this Sam Edelman dress and this BB Dakota dress in a fun bold yellow hue. I'd love to pair them with these peep toe ankle booties.

One of these days, we'll head back to the office... which is always freezing! This cardigan would be perfect to keep on my chair for meetings in cold conference rooms, and so would this cardi in olive green. I'm also loving this plaid blazer and of course this leopard pencil skirt.

Closet staples like this moto jacket, rose gold Tory Burch sunnies, wear anywhere skinny jeans, and a $15 basic tee which is perfect on it's own or layered under a jacket or cardigan in chillier temps.

The NSale isn't just for fashion, there are plenty of beauty items at a great discount as well. My skin loves this Too Faced duo, and who doesn't want a rose gold makeup brush set?

If you're looking for gift ideas or are starting Christmas shopping early - this fun tee is only $22. I've gifted these earrings to several girlfriends, and they're always a hit!

And who doesn't love a good splurge? These boots are 1 of 2 items below that are more than $100, but are $300 off their original price tag. If you've been drooling eyeing them, now is the time to snag these beauties. If you'd love a good pair of OTK boots, but want to keep the price under $100 - this pair by Steve Madden come in 2 colors and are just as pretty.

I'm Breezy

I'm Breezy

Now picture that title as Monica leaving Richard a message on his answering machine on Friends in "The One Where No One is Ready", but she was in fact NOT breezy. But these tanks are breezy, plus bonus points that they're available on Prime.

I'm hoping to be back on Wednesday with my picks from the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale preview. I hereby swear that I will not talk about the sale repeatedly, will only mention items I would actually purchase for myself, and they will all be under $100. It's honestly not my favorite sale of the year (I highly prefer their Half Yearly Sale), as I wear a lot more warm weather items living in Florida but there are always pieces you can't pass up especially investment pieces and accessories. I also want to stress that you do NOT need a Nordstrom credit card to shop the sale early. I have had their debit card for years, and accumulate the same amount of rewards, but it's linked to my checking account with 0 interest. Stay tuned!

My Favorite Versatile Piece

My Favorite Versatile Piece

The last few weeks have been pretty rough for me emotionally - I'm ok I promise! So I took a very refreshing break from Instagram last week (personally, because I still need to be plugged in professionally for my job), and it was just what I needed. I will definitely be taking more breaks more often, especially when I'm feeling disheartened. Good for the soul.

Tank Top {only $19} | Paperbag Waist PantsHeels {55% off} | Necklace {similar} | Pearl Barrette | Sunnies | Lipstick

I'm all about re-purposing pieces while shopping my closet, and can't get enough of this tank. I originally styled it here for drinks on the patio, and have also been wearing it around the house with pajama shorts (because who self quarantines in jeans or a bra?!) because it's THAT comfy. I love that I can rock it with a cute pair of shorts or pants outside of the house or for simply relaxing at home.

And I'm eagerly awaiting the arrival of our new patio loungers. I was excited to save an extra 5% with our Target debit card, and want to say good bye to the old loungers we never got cushions for and are rusting their way out the front door for curbside pickup. There is someone who usually patrols our local neighborhoods on garbage night, and I've been happy to see that almost every item we've left outside over the years has been picked up before the garbage truck comes through the next morning. I like knowing that a lot of our items end up being re-purposed.

Summer Mondays

Summer Mondays

Are we really already at the mid-point of July? I digress... I still have trouble figuring out what day it is most days, and we are back to staying home as much as possible because Florida is out of control. Take out to support local restaurants, online grocery ordering with free pick up, and online ordering for everything else is where it's at. Is anyone else as upset as I am that Target doesn't include perishable items (and even some other random things that aren't food related) in their Drive Up orders? We used to do all of our grocery shopping at Super Target, and they've been losing a ton of money from us by not providing so many items with their highly advertised Drive Up service.

With all the time spent at home, we are still going on daily walks, spending lots of time splashing in the pool (Lil' Miss is officially a swimming champ, and I'm SO proud!), and treating ourselves to s'mores by the fire pit. I picked up these adjustable roasting sticks through Prime, and love that we no longer need to hunt for sticks in the woods or worry about them not being long enough for the fire's heat.

We're still taking these Elderberry gummies in addition to our multi-vitamins. Every little bit helps right? Another great find on Prime, and they have the subscribe and save option to get us through this unprecedented time.

I have been a huge fan of sparkling water since pregnant with Lil' Miss, as I was looking for something other than plain water after my morning cup of coffee and I was missing my bubbly so loved having something with a hint of flavor and bubbles and nothing artificial. Well, I've officially found my sparkling water soulmate and her name is LimonCello. I thought I loved Key Lime, but helloooooo LimonCello! Holy deliciousness! Don't walk, RUN to your nearest Target or Walmart for an 8 pack of this yummyness in a can.

Still loving this $16 tank which can be dressed up or down. I loved styling it with a pair of pull on shorts for margaritas on the patio a few weeks ago, but also am totally rocking it around the house with pajama shorts. It's that comfy!

Have you read the Thousandth Floor series? When I got the 1st book, I had no idea it was a trilogy and then could not put the books down. The Towering Sky is the final book in the trilogy, and I love how it was wrapped up. Now, I'm just eagerly awaiting a tv series or a movie.

H recently replaced our shower head in our bathroom, and I can't rave about this high pressure rain shower head enough. It feels like we're in a luxurious hotel! And since traveling is so not a thing right now (boo!), I've been LOVING the escape. Did I mention it was another Prime find, and it's only $30.

We've been on a roll with house projects the past few months while at home, and decided to also freshen up the living room with new curtains. I didn't have the heart to throw away or donate the old curtains, so re-purposed them in 2 other rooms throughout the house that also needed a re-fresh. Now the curtains I thought I hated in the living room, I'm loving in the guest room since they compliment the bedding.

It took a while for hair accessories to grow on me, considering I can't even curl my hair into nice waves (nor will they stay when professionally done). But I've been rocking the pearl barrettes for some time now, and am now eyeing these beauties. It's been so long since I've worn headbands, and want to bring out my inner Blair Waldorf.

I also can't get enough of sundresses in the summer heat - I mean when I'm not in athleisure or bathing suits because let's face it I'm home and the key is comfort. A lightweight button front dress or a one shoulder dress which I've nicknamed my candy striper dress are perfect for the heat of summer and are super comfy.

In continuation of us working on updates around the house, we also noticed our patio loungers were in desperate need of replacing. We never got cushions for them (gasp!), and they were starting to rust which will lead to them eventually caving. Aside from sticker shock because I apparently live under a rock and was floored at how expensive patio loungers are, I also wanted to add a pop of color to the patio. These loungers were the perfect blue to compliment the tones of cream and brown on our outdoor area. They're also available in cream, dark gray, and rust orange.

I love to support local businesses, and one of my favorites is Good Vibez Clothing Co. I discovered their cute shop at pop up events at my Bar Method studio, and have loved their gear ever since. For a girlfriend's birthday last week (screw you COVID for not being able to celebrate in person!), I ordered her the Manifest the Best tank top and their Royal Crest hat. She's super into yoga, loves positive messaging, and is a local small business owner as well. So I figured these pieces would be a slam dunk for the birthday girl. I also decided to treat myself to the Shimmer White Corkcicle to keep my drinks cold even in the heat.

They're currently running a big sale on their site, and always offer free shipping throughout the United States. Use coupon code GREENFASHIONISTA20 for an additional 20% off your order in addition to their sale.

In other news I made it to all my annual appointments before the huge surge around here - skin cancer check at the dermatologist (get your skin checked annually!), annual gyno visit (yippee), blood work from my annual physical, and Lil' Miss had a dental check up. It was a marathon, but glad they're done and we can hunker down at home. I've also been flexing my not so green thumb, and added a few planters full of flowers to the patio while H re-sanded the pavers on our front walkway. It's amazing the things you can focus on when you're not hustling and bustling everywhere. I've been enjoying actually enjoying our house - ha!

Palms on Palms on Palms

Palms on Palms on Palms

I can never get enough palm print, especially when it comes to resort wear. We still have months of pool and beach time ahead of us, and other than athleisure I've been living in swim suits during this time of self isolating. Although, it hasn't stopped me from dreaming of wearing this whole look at our favorite resort in Punta Cana or the resort we have been eyeing in Costa Rica in the somewhat near future. One can dream of regular travel again right?

*Real life is taking 30-60 seconds out of your day to snap some blog pictures, and Lil' Miss is living her best life in the background jumping in the pool. I wouldn't have it any other way....

Casual Chic for the Patio

Casual Chic for the Patio

I still totally relate to the old meme of "I'm outdoorsy in that I like drinking on patios" - will always make me chuckle because it's true. I am outdoorsy beyond that of course, but that is neither here nor there. We are still majorly social distancing over here, and only ventured out of the house for the holiday weekend to grab some BOGO of our favorite margaritas sitting outside on the patio before planting it in our pool for the remainder of the weekend and grilling while taking in neighorhood fireworks from our yard. It was nice to put on some real clothes, and enjoy some drinks that I did not make at home while Lil' Miss went to town on chips and salsa.

Summer Brights and Scalloped Edges

Summer Brights and Scalloped Edges

Hello July - even though I've been living in pretty much only loungewear and bathing suits since mid-March due to the virus that shall not be named, I'm always excited for summer to officially begin and of course more fun swimwear. I decided to switch it up with these new suits and sprung for bold brights with fun back detailing and a festive red and white combo with scalloped edges. Did I mention they are both under $15 each?

Tie Back Bikini {only $12} | Sunnies

The 4th of July may look A LOT different this year, but that doesn't mean I am skipping the red, white, and blue combos or pool time. I can't get enough of the fun scallop detailing on this suit, and it's my first ever one shoulder bathing suit. Did I mention it's insanely comfy too? It'll take me from grilling and floating the day away to a backyard seat of neighborhood fireworks.
