Some of you may have noticed I haven't been around these parts a lot lately. I usually post 4-6 times a week so this is out of the ordinary for me. I was very busy last week and then just as I was falling back into my routine this week I got the call from both of my parents (never a good thing when they call you on speaker phone so they can both be on the phone) that my grandma who had suffered a heart attack last week was determined hospice status so they could just make her comfortable. They said it could be a few hours or several days, but it was inevitable that we were going to be losing her soon. I was floored and couldn't accept that this was happening AGAIN after losing my grandfather only 6 months ago. About an hour later as I was taking dinner out of the oven, my phone rang again and I said, "Uh oh.." and sure enough it was my dad calling me to tell me that "grammy has just passed" :-(

As much of a shock as it is (still hasn't completely sunk in that it's real) it's bittersweet because I know she's reunited with her husband of over 63 years. A lot of people have been telling me that when you're married for that long, you tend to go pretty quickly one after the other like that. The body has a funny way of shutting down due to heartache.

I'm so glad we took this picture last August after my grandfather's funeral. My grandmother with all 6 of her grandchildren. We all live spread throughout the country so it's very rare for us to all be together.

I'm so thankful they were both at my wedding back in 2010 and they even won the anniversary dance with over 60 years of marriage :)

I struggled with whether or not I wanted to write this post, but as a lot of us have said lately our blogs are our outlets and shouldn't be all rainbows and butterflies all the time. We're real people who enjoy sharing  the wonderful things in our lives, but we also have struggles and heartache that shouldn't be bottled up. So many of you have become wonderful bloggy friends and I'd feel like I was lying if I continued to act like everything was ok right now when my family is going through so much.

After dropping a small fortune on last-minute flights H and I will be flying back up to CT for the services and to spend time with the family. It's going to be deja vu from 6 months ago but we'll get through it as we'll all be together.

Hopefully, next week I can finally fall back into my "routine" after getting some much needed closure this weekend.
