Animal Print in the Florida Keys

Even though it was extremely windy while I was in Islamorada last weekend, I was determined for some beach time and meals on the water (both of which did not disappoint). While getting dressed for dinner at night I wanted to wear a dress, but one that wasn't too summery due to the high winds and the fact that we are in the midst of my least favorite month - old man January. Enter my favorite animal print dress I picked up from H&M last summer, the material is a little heavier and it provides more coverage than my usual go-to sundresses in the warmer months.

What are some of your favorite pieces to wear on a beach trip in the cooler months?

Olive + Stripes

Two of my biggest obsessions this season are stripes and olive hues. Since it's still pretty hot here, I took two of my favorite fall trends and altered it for the Florida heat.

Everyone needs some sparkle

I mentioned here about what happened after I ordered these beautiful sequined pants. My size was out of stock, so my order was cancelled. I then called customer service, and they told me the next size up was available plus they gave me an extra discount for the inconvenience. After my rant in yesterday's post about Carnival's lack of customer service this was a pleasant surprise, and the perfect definition of how to keep customers happy.

Friday Favs

Even though it was a short week for me, it sure feels good to be Friday, especially with so much to love this week. And a certain special blogger is celebrating her big day today, Happy Wedding Day Amanda!!

1. Since we were off on Monday, we decided to go out for breakfast, and take a walk on the beautiful trail near where we ate. We picked up coffees at Panera after putting our names in at a cafe, enjoyed the beautiful weather, and then had a delicious breakfast on the restaurant's outdoor patio. Now that's my kind of Monday morning!

2. Found a cute new doggy bakery and spa for Roxy (still cracks me up that doggies have day spas!), and fell in love with their treat buffet. Too cute!

3. Painted my nails this week for the cause with OPI's "I Think in Pink" with a layer of "You Glitter be Good to Me" on my accent nails.

4. Ok... a lot of you know about my sequinned legging fiasco. If not, I'll fill you in...it all started when I posted about these fabulously beautiful sequinned leggings last week. A bunch of people told me to go for it, and place the order. I finally did over the weekend, only to get an email several hours later that my order was cancelled because the item was out of stock grrrrrr. I then went back to the website where it was still showing my size in stock... double grrrr! So, I decided to call customer service. They apologized for the inconvenience and told me that the next size up was available, and they offered me 25% off for the hassle. So my sparkly pretty pants are on their way, and I'm hoping they won't be too big. And if any of you had any trouble placing an order, call customer service and let them know. Hopefully they'll have a size similar to yours and they'll hook you up with a discount as well.

5. Loving my recent pins on Pinterest this week:

Lovely Long Weekending

I am extremely thankful that my weekend extends into today, as I finally work somewhere that gives us Presidents Day off. That extra day tacked onto the weekend makes such a huge difference, and they should happen more often right?

I treated myself to Starbucks on Friday, and came back to my desk to find a cute little Valentine waiting for me. Chocolates? Yes please! At lunch, I took a stroll down the block to enjoy the beautiful weather before heading over to Trader Joes for a few "necessities". And by necessities I mean cookie butter, wine, coconut oil spray, and an Italian meat trio. Then I hurried over to Chic Fil A to cash in my free chicken sandwich. Delish.

That evening I went out for an impromptu happy hour which was filled with laughs, some food, and good drinks. Just what the doctor ordered.

Saturday, I did some damage at the mall to shop for my upcoming cruise and a gala at work that I needed a new cocktail dress for. I ended up hitting the jackpot at Express as they were having 40% off all dresses, tops, and jeans. I walked out of there with 2 new cocktail dresses and a beautiful flowy top for less than what one of the dresses would have cost full price. Bazinga.

I also picked up Murad's cleanser and spot treatment at Sephora, and a new bikini top for the cruise at Target using the 25% off cartwheel for women's clothing and swimwear. Coming home and finding my latest Rocksbox shipment in the mail was the icing on an already amazing cake for the day.

Now my dilemma is which dress do I wear to the gala? Do I go with electric blue or do I go for the wow factor with the open back? (They're both coming on the cruise for formal nights, so they'll both get worn.)

Oh! And can we talk about how sad I am that I finally ordered these fabulous sequined leggings only to get an email several hours later that they're sold out and the order has been cancelled. I just went back to the site, and they're still showing that they're available. Not cool H&M... not cool..

That evening, H and I had our annual tradition of celebrating Valentine's Day at home with champagne and a pot of cheese fondue. I put out the Italian meat trio for an appetizer, and then we went to town enjoyed the cheese fondue for the main course.

Creme Brulee for dessert

Sunday was the continuation of the Harry Potter marathon in a friend's home theater with an intermission of Cards Against Humanity which is always a good time.
