Travel Plans for 2016

As you all know, traveling is hands down my favorite hobby and every year I try to visit at least one new U.S. city and at least one new country. Getting new stamps on my passport and getting closer to seeing all 50 states makes me more excited than a new purse (which also gives me all kinds of happy feelings).

2015 brought lots of fun travels:

Eastern Caribbean Cruise ship recap and Ports of Call Recap
Boca Raton for Memorial Day Weekend
Key West for the 4th of July
Connecticut-NYC-Boston trip for a Yankees game, my cousin's wedding, and a day trip to Boston while staying in CT.
Bachelorette at the Lazy River
Punta Cana for our friend's destination wedding weekend
Connecticut again for my sis-in-law's baby shower
Travel Plans for 2016

Islamorada (Florida Keys): I've been to Key West a few times, but always drove straight through and haven't experienced the other Keys. So, I'm excited to be heading to Islamorada for work next week. Have I mentioned recently that I love my job?!
Connecticut: Flying up next month to meet my beautiful new nephew, looking forward to all the baby snuggles!
Denver: My Yankees will be playing H's Rockies in June at Coors Field which neither of us have ever been to so we're looking forward to our teams going head to head in a new city to both of us. Since we love seeing new cities and ballparks, this is a total win-win!
Big Trip Contenders

We haven't decided on what our big trip for 2016 will be yet, but these are the options that are in the running. Let me know what you would choose!

Rio de Janeiro: As much as I'd love to go for the Olympic games, it'll be crazy expensive to go during that time. So much history and culture and let's not forget the amazing nightlife and how gorgeous it is.
Hawaii: We were planning on honeymooning in Hawaii before we chose to go to Fiji. I'd love to fly into Oahu and stay for a few days to check out Waikiki Beach and tour Pearl Harbor before moving on to Maui and the Big Island.
Switzerland and Italy: We've been itching to go back to Europe and as much as I'd like to do a London-Paris-Amsterdam trip you can't beat the scenery in Switzerland or the food and the wine in Italy.
Whistler, British Columbia: Our friends try to get away on a friend's trip once a year, and we've rented beach condos on Treasure Island for Labor Day Weekend, a Bahamas Cruise, and an all-inclusive resort in Punta Cana for a friend's destination wedding. As much as we love our warm weather and beachy trips where we drink in our bathing suits all day one of our friends brought up the idea of changing it up for the next trip and going on a ski trip. This probably will be in 2017. but I'm excited!
Where are you hoping to go in the next year?

  27. LOVE these! I've been to Hawaii numerous times living on the West Coast and it has a special feeling all its own. So magical. I also live fairly close to Whistler (6 hour drive) and have been several times. One thing to consider if you don't want a ski trip is that Whistler is AWESOME in the summer too! Lots to do and so pretty! Vancouver is also a really cool city with an international feel. Great scenic stuff to do too.

  28. So jealous you get to go to Key West for work. I've been dying to make it down there but we've only have gotten as far as Ft Lauderdale so far! I vote for Hawaii and I would totally join in on that trip because I've been dying to travel there since childhood days.

  37. I didn't realize how many places that you've already traveled - FIJI?! That's basically my dream. You have so much to look forward to with travel this year! So far, Disney next month is our only big trip planned, but hopefully that changes.

  40. Oh, please do Switzerland/Italy! It is our dream to do a food tour of Italy. Apparently, there's a place where they light a wheel of parm on fire and then toss your homemade pasta in all that melty cheese. We obviously don't have any big travel plans this year with little one arriving in a few weeks (and because we're hoping to move across the state at some point as well), but we definitely hope for our next big trip to be to Europe!

    ReplyDelete
  41. I love that y'all try to visit new cities and baseball stadiums! I think that's such a fun tradition and let's you see a lot of exciting cities! You also have so many fun ideas for your big trips for this year! My vote I think will always be Europe because I've never been, but Whistler looks like a blast too! We absolutely loved our Hawaii trip last year, and I don't think that you could go wrong with that choice either! So basically, I think you should try to do them all, lol! Sorry I'm no help!

  42. 2016 is going to be an amazing year for you it looks like! Switzerland is totally on my travel list as well!

    ReplyDelete
  43. I love the ballpark/new city trip you have planned! I went to Denver once for work but didn't get a chance to explore the city too much, but I definitely want to go back! As for your big trip ideas- I'd choose Hawaii/Maui, because that was my favorite destination ever. I've never been to Italy, but that (specifically the Amalfi coast pictured) would be at the top of my list! Whistler would be a lot of fun in a group too, especially if a lot of you ski! So many great options- good luck choosing!

  44. Wow, so many places last year and such fun plans for this year. They all sound so wonderful!

    ReplyDelete
  45. oh gosh, now all I can think about is traveling. I want to go everywhere on your list!! You should hit up Whistler. It's SOOOOOOOO pretty, ridiculously so and really, really fun in the winter. I want to go to Rio as well!

  46. All of your traveling looks like so much fun!! We are going to miss you by a month in Denver! I will be there in May for work and will definitely be hitting up a Rockies game. This post looks like fun, I definitely need to do the same!

  47. ahhhh so much fun stuff in 2015 and so much fun stuff planned for 2016! oh Hawaii would be amazing, I've been to Waikiki Beach but i'd love to visit more because i really don't feel like i got a good feel of it. and oh, Switzerland! i would love love love to go there. i'd also really love to do an all Italy only trip. sigh. maybe i need to buy a ticket for that powerball!

    ReplyDelete
  48. Wow, all of these are great places, so hard to decide! I think a trip to Europe would be amazing! Hope you have fun no matter which you choose :)

  49. This all sounds so fun! Can't wait to see your blog posts about your adventures. I would love to go to Rio, and Whistler sounds magical! Italy & Switzerland was one of my favorite adventures we have done though-y'all should look into Stresa and Interlaken-both so stunning!

  50. Gahhh, it's going to be a great year!! We are also thinking Islamorada (or Palm Beach) in March so you'll have to report back after next week! And I vote for Hawaii just because we honeymooned there and had the best time :) Italy + Switzerland sound fabulous too though!!

    ReplyDelete
  51. So many fun things planned!!! I would love to go to Hawaii or Italy!!! They both sound equally amazing and different! I am not sure what we will have planned this year other than our usual Gulf Shores and Gatlinburg trips. Can't wait to follow along on your journeys this year!
