Sunday Social ~ New Years

I can't believe tomorrow is NYE! Where did this past year go?! Linkin' up with Ashley and Neely for Sunday Social.

1. What is the best New Years Eve you ever had?

~ NYE 2009 (ringing in 2010) We were still living in CT and friends of ours rented a party bus to take us to Mohegan Sun for the night. SO.MUCH.FUN

2. Are you doing anything for NYE this year? If so, what?

~ We have 2 parties we are going to try to get to.. I know it sounds impossible, but there's a reason. Our neighbors invited us to their party a while back and it sounded like a great idea so we could just walk over when we're ready and not worry about being out on the roads. We're not worried about ourselves, it's the other idiots out there that concern us.

However, two of our friends are throwing a masquerade party and a lot of our friends will be there, so we really want to go. We're going to try to go there first and leave around 11:00 so that we have more than enough time to get back here to ring in the new year at our neighbor's party. Yes, I know we're crazy :-P

3. Name a book we should all read come January

~ I was given a few books for Christmas, and I started off with Lauren Conrad's book "Beauty" It's similar to her "Style" book but this one is all about beauty tips... hair, makeup, skincare, etc... and so far I'm LOVING it! Great read for all us girls!

4. What are your new years resolutions?

~ I don't usually make resolutions, but I think it's time for me to start eating healthier. I get away with the junk I eat (and drink on the weekends) because I love to work out. But my body should not be taking in so much processed food and I need to start eating more fresh foods. The problem is, I'm allergic to raw fruits and veggies and shellfish. So, I usually stay away from all seafood and most fresh fruits and vegetables. If I have a salad, it can only be lettuce, cucumbers, and tomatoes. I can't eat raw carrots, celery, etc... I also can't just munch on an apple or peel an orange or banana at my desk and it really stinks. Those would be such great options for a mid-day snack.

So, I'd like to start packing more salads for lunch with stuff I can actually eat on them and also add some turkey or grilled chicken to help make them filling. I have GOT to stop eating so many lean cuisines that are packed full of sodium and honestly don't even fill me up anyway.

I'd also like to start eating healthier before we start TTC so that I'm not at risk for gestational diabetes when I do get pregnant and will have a happy healthy baby.

Happy almost-New Year! :)

  1. Stopping by via the Sunday Social. Your NYE plans sound great, I hope you're able to make it to both of the parties. Good luck with eating healthier in 2013! It must be hard with your allergies but I wish you all the best in finding options that make you feel better and make you healthier when you are ready for a baby. :)

  2. Oh my gosh, I would die if I had those allergies! I eat fruit and veggies all day long. Have you considered juicing? Is that something you could do? I'm trying to be healthier in 2013 as well, but my main focus is to stop wasting time doing things that aren't necessary/good for me.

  3. We have a Mohegan Sun fairly close to where we live, I kind of want to go (really, really bad) ;) One of my resolutions is to also eat healthier, starting with a fruit and/or veggie at every meal... It sucks when you can't eat raw veggies, my grandmother-in-law suffers seizures if she eats raw onions, SCARY! And I don't know if I'm allergic to shellfish, but it makes me very ill! Anyways, hope you and yours have a lovely New Year! :)

  4. Ending the night with a party across the street sounds wonderful! We will be driving at midnight about 30 miles. I am hoping to hit the roads right away and get home before the drunks leave their parties... Happy New Years!!

That is such a bummer about the raw fruits and veggies. Maybe you should search the internet and make a list of things you can eat and start there. You might be surprised what you can do with the small bit you can eat. And you might find other people like you who have already paved the way.

By the way, your bulldog Roxie is adorable. We are a bulldog family too. We lost our Bulldog, Pig to cancer this time last year and now we have an 8 month old girl named Cupcake. Stop by and meet her if you get a chance!

    Hugs,
    Kara
