Rain Showers and Tote Bags

Is tomorrow really the first official day of fall?! Where oh where has the time gone? Even though I live in Florida, and we usually feel more fall-like temps in November through March we got a small taste this weekend thanks to all the rain that decided to dump on us and rain on our parade quite literally and figuratively. But nothing a little palm print couldn't help bring a little sunshine to.

We were supposed to head to a local water park to celebrate a good friend's birthday, but we woke up to rain that would not.let.up. We decided to head that way anyway because a little rain never hurt anyone, and we are annual passholders so if we wanted to leave after only a little bit we weren't losing out.

On Saturday, we squeezed in a little pool time before heading to our favorite local Mexican restaurant where it began to - you guessed it - rain!

On Sunday, we were supposed to head to the water park but ended up just going for a little bit due to the rain that was not going away no matter how politely we asked. Oh - and did I mention once we got to the parking lot, we locked all ourselves out of our car including my beautiful new palm print tote bag which had our keys, wallets, masks, phones, and annual passes in it? Yep... at least an hour of wasted time and money to pay a locksmith. That mixed with the rain was not a great start to our day, but we rallied. We ended up going for a few trips around the lazy river before calling it a day, and headed downtown for some lunch and my weekend fav - mimosas!

She is such a champ with her mask! I mean it does help that it has Anna and Elsa on it, so she is kind of proud to sport it when she needs to. I may need some Disney princesses on my collection as well, since it's what all the cool kids are doing!

Here's to a beautiful and productive new season! May it be a fresh start for 2020 please and thank you!

Bringing the Brights

I'm coming off a HUGE work weekend, as we had our annual anniversary event which was filmed on stage at the Hard Rock Live and streamed to our global audience. We were set to be out on the road for this year's global tour with stops in South Korea, Italy, and Brazil after kicking off here in Orlando. Obviously, that all changed due to the virus which shall not be named and brilliant minds came up with the idea to still hold a stage event but stream it to everyone around the world.

Instead of fun work travel this year, I'm bringing the brights. Also, it'll be hot here for a few more months and after years of watching other bloggers sweat outside in sweaters and boots just for the 'gram I've decided to dress for myself and what I'm actually wearing and also style it for those in cooler climates. We get fall like weather when everyone else is dealing with old man winter, and when it's finally cool enough to rock the sweaters, jackets, and boots - all the spring styles are hitting the stores and bloggers are freezing to showcase the new spring and summer pieces. It's funny isn't it? So, below I bring you what I wore to dinner with the family last week as we dined al fresco and also threw on one of my favorite moto jackets to show how it could transition for cooler temps. I'm going to embrace the season this year, and dress for those of us in warmer climates. Plus, how fun is this Free People top that I found on major sale. Keep bringing on the brights!

But First... Coffee

It's no secret that I'm a HUGE fan of coffee, especially local brews (although I am caught out with Dunkin and Starbucks regularly because coffee!). One of my favorite local spots for an iced pick me up is Barnie's Coffee in Winter Park. They have the BEST flavored coffee, and I love that you can grab their bags of coffee grounds or k-cups to go or pick them up at Publix. Their Santa's White Christmas flavor is my favorite, and I will admit I drink it year round and am super excited they now have it on tap at their cafe. It was a must stop on our way to pick up the new pup last week, and totally hit the spot.

**Side note - this is not a sponsored post, I just love to promote some of my local favs and of course good coffee.

I spy some adorable feet with Minnie shoes on - here's some real life. Grabbing a quick cup of coffee, and wanting to snap a blog pic and Lil' Miss insists on being in the picture even if it's just her adorable little footsies.

Hello September

I'm in total disbelief that we have officially entered September. This has been a strange year to say the least, and with that time has been something hard to grasp. It feels like it's taking forever yet also flying by. August was also birthday month, so a little extra shopping was in order with gift cards and simply treating myself.

I cashed in some rewards at Express, and took advantage of their sale items. This linen top is SO soft, and I scooped it up for 60% off. I'm thinking I need it in more colors now too! As I'm sure I'll be rocking tank tops for a few more months.

Linen Tank Top - 60% off

This peplum top is also 60% off, and will be pair perfectly with a pencil skirt or dress pants whenever we make our way back into the office. I'm not in a rush for that, but when the day comes I am ready!

Peplum Top - 60% off

When I shared the yummy smoothies from Revive Superfoods, I tried on this flutter sleeve tee which will also be great for the office or play. It comes in 5 fun colors, and is... you guessed it - 60% off

Flutter Sleeve Top - 60% off

One of many great Amazon finds in August was this loose v-neck top which can be worn off the shoulder if you choose to. I went with a soft blue color, and know it'll be on repeat when the temps drop.... in November or December - ha!

Loose Fit Top - only $19 and available in 8 colors

The only item... I repeat the ONLY item that was left on my Nordstrom Anniversary Sale wish list when I was eligible to shop (even with early access as a debit card holder) were the infamous Spanx Leggings. So, I cashed in a $20 Nordstrom Note towards a pair and I get it now guys. For years, I didn't understand the hype and was happy with my cheap pair of faux leather leggings. I am here to tell you they are worth the extra money. I will be LIVING in them later this fall and winter. Please don't judge me if they are in 9 out 10 OOTD posts - ha! I'm also happy to report that they are true to size. WIN!

Speaking of the Nordstrom Sale, and the epic fail that it was this year - I ended up cashing in my Nordstrom birthday gift cards at Nordstrom Rack instead. I'm glad that I did, because I scored these wedges for half of what they are on the Nordstrom site. I also picked up this Free People tank for less than $20.
Espadrilles - 65% off

Did you know that if you sign up for emails on Kendra Scott's website, you'll receive a 50% off coupon valid during your birthday month? It used to be in store only, and until recently there wasn't a store in Central Florida so I never took advantage of it. This year I decided to AND was happy that I could use it on an online order especially since they offer free shipping (ALWAYS a plus)! I decided on this gorgeous ring which adds a statement to any outfit.
Drusy Ring in Rose Gold

I was influenced by Biana and Danielle a while back on this primer which is available on Prime. I don't know why it took me so long to finally try it out, but am SO glad I finally did. I feel it's a great dupe for Benefit's POREfessional, and it glides right on to minimize pores and help your makeup stay put. Even in the Florida heat!

In the spirit of working on house projects, we are also tackling some things in our master bedroom. I'm no longer feeling the gray paint, and want to go for a soft color that will accent the furniture and also replace the curtain rods and curtains.

Curtain Rods in Pewter - Only $24 each

Now that the new pup has joined our family, she needed some doggy bowls and a non-skid mat. I almost went with pink, but decided on the mint green instead and it was perfect! I promise I'll share some photos of her soon, it's hard to capture an energetic puppy without it being blurry. Her name is Luna (as in Lovegood), and I can't get over how teeny tiny she is!

Lil' Miss broke her headphones for her Kindle, and with us working from home and her hanging with us most of the day a new pair was a must! She chose these unicorn headphones and they arrived in less than 2 days. Thank you Prime!

I love having flowers around the house, but fresh ones all the time are not realistic. These peonies and pearl vase filler are now in the perfect spot above the fireplace for some extra cheer inside.

I've been rifling through Jessica Simpson's book and can't recommend it enough. I loved her when Sweet Kisses came out, during Newlyweds, and beyond! Such a great read!

Next up on my reading list is Finding Freedom with my favorite royals that I got for my birthday. Super excited to dive into this!

What were some of your favorite finds in August?

Let it Shine

Last week was a big week for my mane - I went from wanting to not let my hair see the light of day to having a "Is that really MY hair?!" moment. Due to the virus that shall not be named, I hadn't gotten my hair done since January. The split ends, dull color, and grays were out in full force so I finally plucked up the courage to see my stylist. She moved from a big salon to a salon suite which is perfect right now with all the precautions. She's in her own suite with a sliding door with it's own beverage station, hair station, and even sink for washing and rinsing. She took off a few inches and brought rich color back with some highlights, and I felt like me again.

Several days later, I was asked to visit the Rizzieri Salon for a complimentary shine treatment and blow dry. I stopped for a cold brew on the way, and got settled in at the new to me salon. We talked about my hair goals, and I expressed wanting it to simply shine more and be healthier with less frizz (because Florida humidity). She applied the glaze, and let it set for a bit and then washed my hair with Aveda products before blowdrying. I'm still in awe of how much better my hair looks after letting it go for so long. Excuse me as I do a much needed hair flip!

Check out these "after" photos. I honestly can't even remember the last time I was proud of my hair. My daily ponytail since being home this year is officially on a break!

After getting my shine on, I enjoyed a celebratory glass of bubbles before beginning my self-quarantine leading up to a big work event. We obviously aren't traveling around the world this year, but we are putting on a global event on a stage which will be streamed online for people to watch from the comfort of their own homes. Love how we have quickly accommodated to all things 2020!

I've got the blues

It is no where near cool enough to think about sweaters or even long sleeves for that matter, but I couldn't resist this off the shoulder cozy piece that will pair perfectly with shorts for the next several months. And did I mention it's Prime eligible? Hello 2 day free shipping.
