Long Weekend Wrap-Up

Instead of the Sunday night blues this week, I've got the Monday night blues, but at least I'm looking at 4 days instead of 5!

My weekend didn't go exactly as planned... and here's why:

We went to the cocktail hour and Star Wars exhibit hosted by H's work and our table sure did some damage...

This is where I had 4 glasses of wine... yep 4. We then had fun going through the exhibit, which I wasn't sure about at first since I never got into the movies, but it was fun. We got to pose with several different items they used in the movies, ride a hovercraft powered by air, and go in a simulator where it looked like you were traveling through space.

Afterwards, we went out for a few more drinks. This is where my bad decision making skills came out to play. Remember those 4 glasses of wine I had at the cocktail hour? Well, I should have stuck with wine... but everyone else was ordering fun Pinnacle drinks so I decided to join in the fun. And this was one of those places that fills the glass with liquor and then just splashes in the mixer.

Good times... but I sure paid for it the next morning. Boooo! Needless to say I had to reschedule my hair appointment. So, I'm stuck with this awful mop of damaged hair another week. I have no one to blame but myself and I was suffering from what I always call "self inflicted pain".

Word to the wise... if you have more than 1 glass of wine... stick with wine for the rest of the night. Do not and I repeat do NOT switch to liquor! As yummy as some of those fun drinks are they do not equal fun later!

Once I napped and ate greasy take out I was ready to take on the rest of my Saturday. So, we went grocery shopping to pick up snacks for our neighbors coming over later that evening for a night outside playing games by the fire pit. I made buffalo dip and tried out s'mores dip which I found on Pinterest of course! It was soooo yummy!

~ 1 cup of milk chocolate chips

~ 2 tbsp of milk

~ 1 and 1/4 cups of mini marshmallows

~ Graham crackers for dipping

In a medium sauce pan, combine all ingredients except for a 1/4 of the marshmallows and save it for the topping. Mix continuously until melted over medium heat. Scrape into a small dish and top with remaining marshmallows. Place dish in oven set on broil for approximately 60 seconds until the top has started to brown. Dip your crackers and enjoy!

We had a great night by the fire filled with laughs and good food. They even brought me a present from the Target-Neiman Marcus collaboration!

They know how much I love baking, so they got me the cookie cutter and stamper set! Too sweet!

Sunday, was brunch and a pub crawl in celebration of not having to work on Monday. Unfortunately, not everyone was lucky enough to have today off but they all joined in the fun anyway :)

Yummy brunch filled with flavored mimosas

We did a lot of walking including through the farmers market and around the lake which was really pretty. Great day with great friends!

Today, I enjoyed sleeping in while H begrudgingly went to work but I kept myself busy around the house the rest of the day. I cleaned the bathrooms, worked out, did laundry, walked Roxy, repainted my nails, made a pot of sauce, and spruced up the house a bit.

New artwork from Target above the tv in the family room. It's currently on clearance and is now $41.99 down from the original $59.99 plus I got an extra 5% off with my red card.

...... and we finally got a new bed set for our new king bed. So, I'm finally getting around to posting pics of our new tufted headboard.

Tufted headboard, down comforter, and duvet cover are all from Overstock.com

Now, we just need to paint the room and we're looking for ideas for what to do with the wall space above the bed. Any suggestions? Artwork? Blown up wedding photo? Stenciled phrase? We can't decide and would love some advice!

I'm extremely late to the game but am finally linking up with Sami for Weekend Update, hop on over and join us!

Happy Happy Weekend

Happy Friday! It's been another looong week, but thankfully I'm looking at a 3 day weekend whoo hoo!

This week I had a thing for pencil skirts... and as much as I love how they look they are not very comfortable. My legs don't move as independently from each other as they should and it's a site to see!

I paired my new skirt from Express with an older top from Express and my bubbles.

I paired my black pencil skirt with my polka dot top and my teal pumps for a pop of color

Tonight, we are going to a convention sponsored by H's work and they're hosting a cocktail hour beforehand.

Saturday morning I'm finally getting my hair done. I haven't been to the salon since September... yipes! I'm going to have her take off several inches so my hair can be healthy again and I'm contemplating adding highlights.

Sunday, one of our friends organized brunch downtown followed by a pub crawl to celebrate no work on Monday. I'm excited because I was planning on going to brunch with H anyway on Sunday, now we get to spend it with our friends too and bottomless mimosas!

Hope everyone has a safe and fun weekend :0)

Hop on over and join Friday Chaos with Kerry and Charlotte and meet some new bloggy friends!

It's OK Thursday

Happy Friday-Eve! Linkin' up with Amber and Neely for It's OK Thursday.....

It's OK that.....

~ I still haven't called to make an appointment with the oral surgeon to get my bad toofer extracted. Totally procrastinating that one...

~ I have never tried the McRib and have absolutely no desire to. I know there are some strong lovers of that sammich out there but I just can't bring myself to try it. Puh-tooey!

~ I haven't been eating cleaner this week. I was doing so well the past few weeks, but totally forgot to pick up the fruits and veggies that I can eat at the grocery store this week. Bad habits die hard :-P

~ I watch WAY too much tv on Monday nights... my DVR is on mega-overload! How I Met Your Mother... 2 Broke Girls... The Carrie Diaries... The Bachelor.. Real Housewives of Beverly Hills

~ I got a pedicure last night but was upset that my regular guy is on vacation. My neighbor referred me to him last summer when the nail spa I used to go to dropped wax in my hair while getting my eyebrows waxed.. yep that happened! I've been going to him ever since and am so upset he's away for a month! How dare he?! 0:-)

~ I'm highly annoyed that How I Met Your Mother was picked up for another season. Looooved the show for the first several seasons, but it's been draaaaaaagging lately and we just want to meet the mother already! We were supposed to be put out of our misery at the end of this season, now we have a whole 'nother season to struggle through.

Oh Barney how I love you! But your hilariousness can only cancel out Ted's annoying-ness for so long!

~ I have absolutely ZERO desire to watch American Idol this season. Haven't watched it in years and they sealed their fate by hiring Nicki Minaj.

~ We're totally going to a convention tomorrow sponsored by H's work for the free booze and apps. We like to keep it classy!

What's OK in your life today?

What I'm Loving Wednesday

~ I'm loving that I have a 3 day weekend coming up wooty-woot!

~ I'm loving that we have an amazing brunch followed by a pub crawl on Sunday celebrating no work on Monday. Double wooty-woot!

~ I'm loving that Justin Timberlake is FINALLY making music again! He must have come back to show the Biebs how it's done. *I do like some of his new songs but JT is the original!*

~ I'm loving my new Naked Nails set

I'm currently wearing "Sidecar" and I love how girly and pretty it is :)

~ I'm loving playing our new game Super Mario Yahtzee. If you are a child of the 80's/90's  this is a must have!

~ I'm loving my recent Pinterest finds:

~ I'm always loving my amazing H

What are YOU loving today?

Neutrogena

If you've been following me for a while you know I have not had good luck when it comes to skin care :-P

Over the past few years my skin has suddenly become very oily and acne prone. No, I'm not a teenager and yes I'll be 30 before I know it and I'm now dealing with cystic acne *sigh*. I've tried everything you name it I've tried it! Well, everything but Accutane. I'm willing to try it but everyone in my life has told me "don't you dare!"

When I first started my blog I gushed about how much I loved my clarisonic and Philosophy's Purity face wash. Well.... ever since my skin has gotten out of control in the past few years, I've gone from Proactiv to the Clarisonic, to the dermatologist where I got pills and topical creams, and back to Proactiv with only temporary help. All of these provided temporary help which gave me hope, but all eventually also let me down. They'd work great (but never anywhere near 100%) and then everything would get bad again while still using the products regularly and as directed.

I was recently patrolling the skin care aisle at Target (my happy place!) and came across Neutrogena's Acne Stress Control toner. I know you can't believe everything you read on the bottles of most facial creams/washes but for some reason this one caught my eye and I decided to give it a try. It promises to not only stop and prevent acne before it starts, but it also reduces oil and shine which has been a huge problem for me the past few years.

Not only has this process been working great, but it smells great too! It has a very pretty scent and doesn't smell at all like a typical astringent.

I've been using this product for about a week, so I don't have any long term results, but so far so good. I've stopped using the Proactiv products (which I was on my 2nd try with and it worked and then stopped working) and this has been working much better than Proactiv, my Clarisonic, or my prescribed meds from the dermatologist. I'm really hoping this will be it and I won't find myself frustrated yet again after only a few short weeks.

January = Summer?

Growing up in Connecticut, I always knew I wanted to move down to Florida and when I met H and he wanted to as well I knew he was a keeper! This past week is a perfect example of why we moved down here. It's been perfect out... sunny and low 80's in January! This is our 3rd winter here, but January weather can get chilly sometimes and the average temp is upper 60's - low 70's. Going to the driving range to hit a bucket of balls or going to the beach is absolutely unheard of this time of year up north. So, we are taking it all in and enjoying the outdoors.

Last weekend was pretty low key which was really nice. We went to the driving range to hit a bucket of balls with H's new golf clubs and I even got to hit a few!

Afterwards we went out for some apps and drinks YUM!

This weekend it was even more beautiful out and our friends asked us if we wanted to go to the beach so of course we said YES PLEASE!

My "I'm so ready for the beach" outfit

First beach day of 2013 :)

We played some ladder ball, went to the tiki bar, and of course practiced safe sun!

Ladder Ball Shenanigans

We asked a random on the beach to take a picture of all of us playing ladder ball, and he took some pics of us but mixed in were several self portraits. He must have used the flip option on the iphone to flip the camera on himself.

Hysterical!

We also hit up the big Express sale that's going on right now which is an extra 40% off all their clearance items. I picked up a new dress for work which I'm excited to pair with my cognac boots and a green pencil skirt and H picked up some button downs which he looked so handsome in :)

I'll make sure to post some OOTD pics of how I styled them for work ;0)

There's also a Crate & Barrel in the mall we went to (one of my fav places! And by far our favorite registry from our wedding!) and we picked up some new rocks glasses.

These glasses can be found here.

We also picked up new bath mats at Target that go with our "beachy" theme in the master bath

They're memory foam and soooo comfy!

Also linking up with Sami for Weekend Update :)
