Spooktacular Weekending

Happy Monday! I thoroughly enjoyed an actual real life weekend, as I've been busy with work events most of the month and have another one this coming weekend. Doesn't look like we'll make it to the pumpkin patch or the corn maze this year, but we made sure Lil' Miss wore her costume and went "trick-or-treating" at SeaWorld's Halloween Spooktacular event. In true social distancing style, her costume included a face mask, and the candy came down a shoot into her bag for zero contact. I was just so happy to see her enjoy the upcoming candy filled holiday. Her free pre-school pass this year has been priceless, and I'm glad we got annual passes as well.

There was also a craft beer festival going on, and as passholders we were each able to print out $10 credits to use inside the park as well as a card for 3 free samples from the festival. I loved seeing so many of the local breweries available for us locals and tourists on vacation to enjoy. Supporting local even at a giant theme park! The only problem we encountered was we spun our wheels for at least an hour trying to enter the park because the bar codes for our passes in the app weren't allowing us in. We waited in 5 lines after getting the run around as to what the problem was. Turns out - since we printed up cards of our passes the last time we were there the bar code in the app no longer works. Say WHAT?! We were frustrated to say the least, and Lil' Miss kept asking why we weren't inside trick-or-treating or on rides yet. She was a total trooper, and didn't fuss at all through all the inconvenience. VERY thankful she napped before we left the house, and I didn't even hesitate when she asked for the unicorn cheesecake ice cream cone on our way out. YES baby of course!

That margarita was necessary after the whole ordeal as annual passholders trying to enter the park. I cashed in my $10 coupon immediately on the drink while H hit up one of the craft beer festival stations for free samples, we got brisket loaded waffle fries (YUM), and Lil' Miss picked out her trick-or-treat bag. She chose Frankenstein! It simply said "Frankly I'm cute" - TRUTH.

*This was from my favorite local brewery Crooked Can - if you're a Central Florida local or here on vacation I highly recommend taking a break from the theme parks and International Drive area and heading to Downtown Winter Garden. Lots of great restaurants, shops, outdoor events, and the Plant Street Market where you'll find this brewery.

What is Halloween going to look like for you this year? Is your neighborhood passing out candy? Are you skipping it this year?

Birthday Fun and Coffee Catch Up

Grab a cup of coffee, and let's catch up. I mean it is Monday after all. I can't believe it's already been a week since my birthday - we packed a lot of fun in over the long weekend. And as I mentioned last week I actually felt like we were social distancing at SeaWorld. I know that sounds like an oxy-moron but it's true. We were outside the whole time, everyone had masks on and temps taken at the gate, and hardly ever got close to others. It's a beautiful thing, and it makes me never want to see theme parks crowded again. I told my husband ahead of time that if at any point I felt uncomfortable that I would want to leave immediately. I'm happy to report I never felt uncomfortable, and there were points while walking where we didn't even see other people.

On Saturday, after some fun in the pool we went out for my favorite margarita and then for ice cream. Lil' Miss and I split a cup of Cookie Monster ice cream which was DELISH! And I have now officially found a Florida ice cream shop that compares to my beloved Rich Farm in Connecticut.
On Sunday, we went for birthday hibachi with some good friends of ours who have a little boy who's a little older than Lil' Miss. She loved seeing the koi pond and took over my birthday cupcake with a side of extra sass.

On Monday, we took the day off and headed to SeaWorld and Aquatica for the day. Who would have thought when we activated our annual pass in February that we wouldn't be back for several months. Lil' Miss has a free pre-school pass, so we happily purchased passes for ourselves to enjoy (what we thought would be) a year of fun at the two parks.

As you can see in the pictures below, there are almost no other people around and it was glorious. We took turns riding the Kraken roller coaster, took Lil' miss to the Sesame Street land, and checked out the dolphins, manatees, sting rays, and alligators before waiving the white flag in the heat to head over to Aquatica to cool off.

A stop for my favorite margarita in the park was a must before we headed over to Aquatica, and it totally hit the spot! I forgot to ask for no salt, and it was still delish! I'm seeing a trend in this post with margaritas, and kinda loving it after all it was birthday weekend. A pic with the work of art, and my beautiful personalized bracelet from Andrea was a must as well.

This past week was also the RewardStyle conference which I usually would never have stood a chance of being invited to, but is 2020 folks. Instead of a fabulous long weekend in Dallas, it was all held online. After a few hiccups with the streaming, they decided to move it to a Zoom call and all the fun began. I took lots of notes, and am excited to start utilizing the knowledge moving forward here on the blog and on social media.

I loved that they mentioned how it was the blog that started it all (woot woot!), and is still very important NOT Instagram. They showed a pyramid graph where on the bottom is LiketoKnow.it as the most important, then your blog, and at the top very small was Instagram and other various social media outlets. You should never dump all your resources into a platform you have no control over and do not own.

And as we are catching up, if you didn't see on Instagram when I made my 1st Reels (seriously who am I?!) - I shared some yummy goodness from Revive Superfoods and their delicious smoothies. They send them in freezer packs, so they are frozen when they arrive and you store them in your freezer or simply add your milk of choice, add a re-usable straw, and enjoy. Use coupon code GREENFASHIONISTA55 to get 55% off your order of these delicious and healthy snacks.

Boy Bands and Dolphins

Can you believe after living in Central Florida for 10 years, I had never been to SeaWorld? I've enjoyed their water park Aquatica (in my opinion - best water park in Orlando), but had never gone into the actual park. Enter the pre-school pass! We were able to sign up Lil' Miss for a free annual pass which includes admission to both SeaWorld and Aquatica throughout all of 2020. So, naturally we got ourselves annual passes to both parks as well. We haven't been annual pass holders to a theme park since the year of Disney back in 2014 - which was also amazing!

We activated our passes on the perfect day - the weather was sunny and in the low 70's, the Seven Seas Food and Wine Festival was going on, and the concert that evening was Lance Bass, O-Town, Ryan Cabrera, and the remaining member of LFO (tear for Rich and Devin). Luckily, I saw LFO live in high school with all 3 members. But, let's just say my teenage heart was happy to see some nostalgic performances during my first visit to the park.

Hi Lance!

Ryan Cabrera and his guitar

Given that we can come back at any time throughout the year, there is still SO much more to see and experience. But it wouldn't have been a trip to SeaWorld without a visit to the dolphin exhibit. Lil' Miss was all giggles when they swam right up to her and "talked" through the glass. Priceless.
