Holiday Weekending

I have so much to recap from our recent trip to the Bahamas, but wanted to write out a detailed post about the process to get in and out of the country as well as the extra safety precautions we took -  so stay tuned! But can we talk about how NICE it was to travel again?

As things are slowly beginning to get back to normal around here, it's been nice spending time with friends and going on a trip with the family. But with that also means the office re-opening. I can't express how much I LOVED working from home the past 15 months, it made so many things so much easier plus the extra time with the fam was priceless. My husband's lucky enough that his company is talking about a possible return in October, and even then it will be voluntary. However, I return to the office today on a hybrid schedule. I have mixed emotions. It'll be nice to see some of my co-workers, and feel a sense of normalcy again, but I'm really hoping we remain on a hybrid schedule. The thought of ever working in an office 5 days a week again is daunting. I'm so much more productive at home, and work a lot from my phone in the world of social media marketing. I would like to point out that I am incredibly thankful that I remained employed throughout the pandemic, and was able to work from home for so long. I never want to take that for granted.

How do you feel about the inevitable return to the grind? Are you forever remote, are you not returning for a while, or are you in a hybrid model?

Now onto the fun since we've returned from the Bahamas. It was my husband's birthday the day after we got back, so we took an extra day off while Lil' Miss was at school and had a day date. (the best!) We grabbed lunch at our favorite local spot, and then hit some golf balls at TopGolf. I had never been, and it was so much fun!

I had no idea what I was doing, but picked it up pretty quickly with a bunch of air-swings mixed in. They disinfected our bay before we started playing, and the birthday boy and I played a few games before heading home for dinner and birthday cake with Lil' Miss.

On Saturday we relaxed in the pool before heading out to grab some dinner. We sat outside, and watched the storm clouds move in and were worried we wouldn't be able to light the fire pit at home for our first batch of s'mores of the season. Thankfully, we only got a few sprinkles of rain and were able to roast some marshmallows. I'm so glad we did or we would have had a very upset little girl!

On Sunday, we had more pool time with "framily". Grill food and lots of splashing in the pool. It was SO good for the soul to see some of our closest friends, and I almost cried as I hugged Emily. Still trying to convince her to come back to blogging.

Monday was refreshing to have the extra day off, and we had more pool and grill time at home. And I can't get enough of photos of Lil' Miss and the pup. They are certainly 2 peas in a pod! Luna is definitely living her best life, and was exactly what our family needed after saying goodbye to Roxy a few years ago.

  3. Awwwww that last picture!!! SO SWEET! Sounds like you guys had a good weekend. Day dates are definitely the best. Yay, Emily! I miss her! Chris has been going into the office since March of this year, and I don't have plans to return anytime soon. Zoe wont be back in school until August, and even then, I would like to continue working from home as much as possible. That 45 minutes each way commute is not my jam. I offered to meet them for lunch regularly or maybe one day a week or something then....but we shall see.

  6. Your trip looked absolutely amazing--so relaxing and fun! We also returned to the office a few weeks ago on a hybrid schedule and I have the exact same feeling--it's nice on the days I go in but I definitely would prefer to keep more time at home permanently!
