You should be happy

I am a strong believer in happiness. You can't control everything, but when you're continually miserable due to your job or a bad relationship it can take a toll on your health. Trust me... I've been there in both of the above :(

Up until a few months ago, I was miserable. No wait.... miserable doesn't even begin to describe how I felt at my job. It was draining me emotionally and stressing me out, plus I had the world's WORST boss. Once she took over our department, the morale went down considerably and most of us were job hunting.

Unfortunately, it took a while for the right opportunity to come along for me. I didn't want to just accept any position so I could leave and never look back.

Obviously, no one bounces out of bed on Monday morning happy that the weekend is over, but you shouldn't be dreading going into work as if you're walking the green mile. I can't begin to describe how much of a happier person I am now. Everyone around me notices how much happier and positive I am.

Of course, I'd still rather be sitting by the pool on a Monday afternoon sipping margaritas, but I feel so much more fulfilled and am dealing with a lot less stress. And the icing on the cake is I have a great boss, complete 180 from my last boss. I still find myself surprised when I get a normal reaction from a normal boss. I swear that last chick ruined my work place confidence....

I just feel all around healthier and happier.... I no longer feel like someone's biatch, I don't deal with a horrid commute, and I feel appreciated. If you don't feel appreciated at your current place of work or in your current relationship or you are unhappy more than you're actually happy then it's time to make a change. Trust me you'll thank yourself later :)

  2. So glad you found a job that makes you happier! It's also important for your health to not be stressed so much so it's good to hear your new boss treats you good and appreciates you as an employee. I hear ya on having a terrible commute, that's my only complaint but I can live with it.

  4. So...you have NO idea (well, maybe some idea...you know me!) how much I love this post. I have struggled with this on and off for the past few years. I've had jobs I've hated, jobs I've loved, horrible bosses and wonderful bosses. Oh and don't even get me started on relationships! ;) Right now, I'm at a crossroads as far as work goes...I'm not so sure what I'm going to do BUT this blog post gave me great perspective to think about/consider when making my decisions...! Thanks for a great post, Kate! I'm so glad that you are HAPPY and enjoying your job now. That's SO important!
