The Fight Against Adult Acne

Ever since I went off the pill a few years ago, my skin has been breaking out worse than a teenager. After countless trips to the dermatologist, pills, creams, a Clarisonic Mia, and a cycle of ProActiv it's been diagnosed as hormonal acne. Hence the pill helping my skin stay clear all those years....

I received a sample of Murad's Acne Clearing Solution with an online purchase at Sephora, and seemed to be the only product that helped clear up my hormonal acne. So, I decided to use my $20 VIB discount in December to buy the full size.

I still use my Clarisonic Mia with a daily cleanser to get all the excess makeup, dirt, and oil off my face. After patting my face dry, I apply the Murad Acne Clearing Solution and let it air-dry. It contains Salicylic Acid, but it has not dried out my face which is a huge plus.

Next up, I'd like to try their Skin Perfecting Lotion which is great for blemish prone and oily skin *that's me*.

If you battle adult acne, what's worked for you?

  2. I hear ya on the adult hormonal acne! I am still battling it at 32 and I still haven't found a great fix for it. I noticed if I drink more water it tends to simmer down, but no products yet have done the trick. Maybe I will try this one out :)

  6. I'm glad that it's helped you. I get small spot lil breakouts every now and then, but spot treatments work for me.

  7. Glad it's helped, Murad makes some great products! I have clear skin, except over the last year I was majorly battling chin/jawline acne. I knew it was hormone related, I ended up getting on a few different natural vitamins, cleared it all up! Now I have some scarring though :(

  9. I have hormonal acne around that time of the month and I HATE it. I get so annoyed being an adult and still getting acne. I love Murad products, I'm going to have to try out that lotion! I've never tried it before so I'm intrigued :)

  10. I've been up and down with it. Usually it's just hormonal now. I like Trader Joe's face wash.

  14. I definitely have the same issue. Boo. But, unfortunately, Murad did nothing to help me. I haven't tried it recently but when I did try it, it made my skin worse so I have stayed away ever since. ProActiv worked for a period of time but soon that too faded in effect. I have come to realize that I may have to battle this for a very long time but it really doesn't make it easier! =(

  16. Ugh. Mine is cyclical. About every 3-4 years for no good reason. I tried the murad moisturizer when I got it as a sample with a Sephora purchase too and I did like it. I've got another product on the way that I'm going to try. I'm glad something is working for you!! It's seems to be just trial and error but also that sometimes your skin has a mind of it's own and does whatever it wants.

  17. I haven't tried Murad in a while, it wasn't hugely skin changing for me when I did but that was before I was eating better and using the clarisonic. You've made me think of retrying!
