Back in August of 2013, four of us headed down to Miami for the weekend to celebrate my birthday and to catch a Rockies-Marlins game since the boys are Rockies fans
We were up bright and early so we appropriately cheersed to the trip with some mimosas and hit the road. We stayed at a boutique hotel called The Richmond on Collins Avenue right on the beach with gorgeous views of the water, and a great pool area. It was also within walking distance to some great bars and restaurants, so it hit all three of our key necessities for picking a place to stay in Miami.
*One must have a Miami Vice while poolside in Miami*
After some beach and pool time, we had some lunch at the pool bar and got ready to go to the baseball game. But of course not without shots and an impromptu dance party in the rooms...
We got to the game super early decked out in our Rockies gear so the boys could go down to the field for pictures and autographs. Plus it was nice to tour the new stadium which even has a Clevelander inside that turned into a club after the game.
*Post game Clevelander fun*
*Yummy midnight snack*
The next morning we had brunch across the street from our hotel at Maxine's Bistro before hitting the road to head back home after a whirlwind weekend. It was such a cute brunch spot with delicious food and cozy one of a kind chairs for seating. We has a chaise lounge, a throne, and an arm chair at our table - love!
Sorry for the fuzzy photos, they were all taken on my iPhone 4 at the time.

Miami definitely seems like the perfect weekend getaway, especially since you can drive! That's so crazy that they have a club at the ballpark, who would've thought. It looks like everybody had a blast, and that you had a great birthday!

I have only been to Miami once for a wedding last year. The wedding was at the Trump so we stayed there and while it was very nice, we weren't anywhere near that main drag. I would rather stay some place closer so that you can walk to things. Thank you for sharing your recommendations and it looks like you guys had a fun time! :-)
ReplyDeleteAwesome photos :)) Wanna go to Miami :))

So fun! I don't go down to South Beach enough - it's only like 30-40 min away from me!!
ReplyDeleteMiami is one of my absolute favorite places to visit!!! I think we're going to stop there next Fall when we do our little honeymoon jaunt. Orlando for a few days with my family, then Miami and Key West solo... ;)
ReplyDeleteI could go for one of these trips riiiight about now! Looks like it was so much fun!
ReplyDeleteIt's been years since I've been to Miami. I'm not a big fan of the drive but K and I are talking about going to Key West for my b'day in December and stopping in South Beach for the first night to cut the drive in half. I'm going to check out the hotel you guys stayed at. Sounds like you guys had a blast AS ALWAYS! lol
ReplyDeleteMiami is so fun! Some friends and I went to Ft Lauderdale a few years ago and did a day trip up to Miami and had lots of fun!

Looks like a wonderful trip! I have to say it is one of the bummers about living in the midwest--everything is far away and not many exciting cities to go to. I mean Chicago is here but second to that...Milwaukee? Not exactly the same as Miami and South Beach!

I mayyyy or may not be on my way to FL right now due to the water in these pics... ;) looks like a blast for you guys!!
ReplyDeleteI'm seriously jealous of your close (interesting) road trips!! I feel like most of the places we could get to for weekends are underwhelming!! Miami has such an interesting and eclectic mix of people, hotels and restaurants!! Love the impromptu dance parties!!
ReplyDeleteIt's so awesome seeing other bloggers come and visit the city that I live in. I can see that you enjoyed south beach very much! Next time you're down here you need to visit Leo's Pizza. It's my personal favorite Pizza place in town!! Hope you enjoyed your Miami Trip ♥

Girl I LOVE Miami. One of my friends used to live there and I've been there about 3 times. Chuck and I went with some friends for the SuperBowl to party and unfortunately he hated it. It was SO busy when we were there and we had to wait everywhere we went so I think if he went again he may like it but he swears he's never going back hahaha. I LOVE The Clevelander!
ReplyDeleteThis is basically everything I want right now and more! Sun! Beach! Cocktails! Friends! Food! Sign me up. Sounds like an amazing way to spend a weekend.
ReplyDeleteyesss! we were just there yesterday for the day. unfortunately, it was windy as hell and we basically got sandblasted but we wanted the kids to see Miami beach.
ReplyDeleteMiami is one of my fav cities!!
