Smooth Like Butter

What is a recent trend that took you a while to get on board with? For me it was biker shorts, and I'm so glad that I finally came around because they're insanely comfy and perfect for working out, lounging at home, or out running errands and grabbing coffee. I chose the Lula Biker Shorts in Ultimate Gray from Aikka Activewear, and LOVE that they're a women owned small business that uses high quality fabric and has affordable prices. Seriously - both the biker shorts and yoga pants further down feel and fit just like my much pricier lululemon pieces. Smooth like butter! Great products, affordable prices, and a feeling of confidence - yes please!

Biker Shorts {only $28} | Sports Bra | Dolman Top | Sunnies

When the weather gets cooler (in like 4 months - ha!) I'll pair them with a pullover or slouchy long sleeve tee. I've also seen people pair biker shorts with a nice top, blazer, and heels and I have to say I kinda like it.

I can never get enough of cozy athleisure pieces especially after all the extra time at home this past year. I mean who doesn't want to be comfortable?! Especially when you can easily transition from the couch to working out or heading out on a Target run.

Still laughing at the comments my long-suffering blog photographer husband made while snapping these pics - "Why are you smiling? Who smiles while they're working out?" And he couldn't be more right. The RBF is FIERCE when I'm working out or simply laying around - HA!

Let's Get Comfy

Are you trying to use every ounce of self control not to deplete your quarantine snacks you built up in the fridge and the pantry? Yeah, me too... With us staying home during this time, and eating all the things while wearing only comfy clothes on repeat I've been amping up the at-home workouts. I haven't put on real clothes in over a week, and that's ok. I've been living in athleisure which makes it easy to transition to a workout during my lunch break.

In addition to working out at home, I wanted to recognize some great small businesses who could always use some extra love. This fun and positive tank is a fav, and from one of my favorite local vendors. Even if you aren't local to Central Florida - all orders from the Good Vibez Clothing Co. ship FREE

I love how many fitness studios are streaming classes online that you can do at home with minimal equipment. It's no secret that I'm a big fan of barre, and was a member of The Bar Method leading up to and throughout my pregnancy (great low impact workout while pregnant, but every pregnancy is different so please consult your doctor before starting anything new) and this past year as well. The Bar Method Winter Park is streaming FREE classes each Sunday while we are social distancing. Just follow them on Instagram here and join the fun. They also have packages available to purchase for unlimited online workouts. (You can find my comparison of Barre3 and The Bar Method here.)

Color Block Mesh Leggings {On major sale for only $8} | Sports Bra | Hand Weights

Other great at home workouts are Jillian Michael's 30 Day Shred which I've been doing for several years right in my living room. There are 3 levels so it's easy to mix it up, and not get bored. I also enjoy George St. Pierre's Rushfit which is available on DVD or you can stream on YouTube. These workouts only need some light handweights and you're good to go. Now get after it!

You can also go for a brisk walk around your neighborhood or take your bike out for spin, and while watching tv - get up and do some jumping jacks or some stomach crunches. Also, make sure you're following my girl Mikaela for some great at home workouts and inspiration.

Another small biz I get excited to talk about is my friend's shop One Utopia - Central Florida friends when the Plant Street Market re-opens in Winter Garden, be sure to go check her out and grab a beer at Crooked Can. Below, I listed a lot of my favorite cozy athleisure pieces that I've been living in lately, and were also great for the long flights last fall while traveling for work.

Lounging in Green

I've been in a fog after a plague hit our department at work - it seriously has taken out about 90% of us, and it's been no joke. Both the flu and bronchitis have been circulating so I have been living in loungewear sets, and can't get enough of all the co-ords options that keep me nice and cozy whether I'm running to the store or camped out on the couch feeling like "death warmed up" - Emily from the Devil Wears Prada quote. Obviously I'm exaggerating, but man alive I'm looking forward to feeling like me again.

Fun Fit Friday

Cheers to Friday! It's been a while since I showed up here three times in one week, but I am excited to kick off the weekend with a great workout. I try to never make an excuse to skip my workout on Mondays or Fridays which is SO easy to do. Life happens sometimes, but I usually try my best to stay on track. If it means squishing in a quick workout dvd at home or heading to my favorite barre studio for a lunch break sweat session I try to make it work. It makes those happy hour glasses of wine or margaritas so much more worth it! Plus fun workout clothes like these mesh workout leggings help me stay even more motivated!

Attitude of Gratitude

I am always super excited to support local businesses and to shop small. Plus we all know my love for barre workouts and fun athleisure pieces.

I first discovered Good Vibez Clothing when they had a pop up shop at Barre in the Park. I immediately gravitated towards their positive messaging, gorgeous pearly white Corkcicle bottles, and comfy grippy socks.

Needless to say, I was pumped to win their recent giveaway for a free Attitude of Gratitude Tank. It pairs perfectly with my grippy socks, and I'll definitely be packing it for my vacation workouts on our cruise and the Castaway Cay 5k while docked in the Bahamas.

Spring Training

Nothing gives more motivation to get up and get moving than fun new workout gear, am I right? I typically workout 4x per week, and if I'm lucky 5x. Whenever I feel like I'm falling into a rut with my routine, that means it's time to add a fun new workout and of course gear. Sparkly yoga leggings? Pretty sneakers? Yes please! Move over Lululemon.... Target, Old Navy, and Nordstrom have seriously stepped up their activewear and athleisure game.

I try to mix things up to keep me from getting bored or into a workout rutt. I'm extremely blessed to have a completely free (and did I mention beautiful) gym at work that I utilize on my lunch break a few days a week, I mix in some at home work outs with Jillian Michaels, George St. Pierre, yoga, and free Barre3 workouts on YouTube. Throw in my Saturday morning Bar Method class, and I feel refreshed with a well rounded circuit of cardio, strength, and ab work.

Yeah, I'm definitely going to need that scallop edged leggings and sports bra combo. What are some of your favorite activewear and athleisure pieces lately?

But First Barre.... and Coffee

Oh Monday you dirty bird, we meet again! But at least we have a long holiday weekend on the horizon. For now, cheers to all the coffee!

Today is our 7th wedding anniversary, and even though I can't believe that 7 years have already gone by since our big day I can definitely tell when looking at our wedding pictures. I can already see how out dated they are by photography style, hair and makeup styles, etc... but I must say, I rocked the smokey eye before it became a thing.

It's been a while since I've shared some wedding pics here, so I thought I'd leave a few from my favorite day which was only a few months before we picked up and left everything and everyone we've ever known in Connecticut, and started a new life here in the sunshine state. Hands down the best decision we ever made, life is just better here.

I also wanted to rave about these lace up leggings that are less than $13! I had a hard time choosing from all the fun colors, and may need to make another order and scoop up more especially at that price!
