I had such an amazing trip up north which was centered around my cousin getting married, but I sure packed in as much as I could into 3 and 1/2 days. I flew into Hartford on
Wednesday evening, and had dinner at my sister in law's before heading to my parents house for the night. My sweet mama re-decorated my old room and I loved the new look!
Now get ready for a very picture-heavy post which is what you're all here for anyway, right?! If you follow along on
instagram or snap chat (user name is greenfashonista) you should recognize some of these pictures and videos already.
Thursday morning, I was up bright and early to catch the train into the city (NYC) for a Yankees game. I was more than excited as I hadn't been to the new stadium since 2009 when it opened.
I love that the new stadium has it's own train stop on Metro-North. In the good ol' days, you'd have to get off at Harlem-125th, walk several blocks to the nearest subway station, buy a Metro card, ride the subway, and then get off near the stadium. Now, the train takes you straight to the game - priceless!
After the game we hit up
Stan's and
Billy's before catching the train to head back into CT and grab pizza at
Pepe's with my best friend from high school.
After pizza, we drove through our old alma mater. The campus looks incredibly different, and has so many beautiful new buildings! But the ol' bridge is still there, and my old dorms look the same. Nostalgia at it's finest.
Friday was the day of the wedding, so I went to breakfast with my mom before getting ready super early since I had to stop and get my favorite ice cream on the way to the wedding. Usually there's a 45-60 minute wait in line, but since it was a weekday afternoon it wasn't that bad.
If you're ever in CT, go get ice cream at
Rich Farm - best ice cream ever! My brother had never had it, and didn't understand what the big deal was. He took a bite, and immediately said "Oh wow that's dangerous!"
Then it was wedding time! And it was at one of my favorite CT wedding venues:
The Waterview which overlooks Lake Zoar.
*Cocktail hour with some of my cousins*
*Gorgeous details*
*Loved spending time with my cousins*
*The back of her dress was gorgeous*
So much fun on the dance floor!
My uncle has some sweet dance moves!
After the wedding, I went back with all of my cousins to the hotel everyone was staying at and we had a "cousins after party". It was so nice to have us all together after so many years, especially since the last 2 times we were all together was for funerals. We all live spread throughout the country, so times like this are priceless.
Saturday, I overslept after the late night of fun the evening before and finally got on the road to Boston for the day. The first stop once we got into the city was the Sam Adams Brewery Tour which I had never done. Needless to say I was
beyond exhausted by this point, but I was super excited to be back in Boston and to finally meet
Biana so I rallied and powered through.
*Pistachio Macaroon*
*Don't get too excited, those drinks were basically 90% sour mix - yick*
Then it was time to meet up with Biana for dinner at
Rosa Mexicano which was delish! Fantastic choice by our favorite Boston local! We sat outside, and enjoyed "tableside" guacamole, delicious drinks, and yummy entrees. And someone who shall remain nameless *cough cough* my brother ordered a $56 margarita by accident.. not just once... but got a second round! The poor kid lost all color in his face when the bill came.
After our fabulous dinner, we walked over to the rooftop lounge at the new
Envoy Hotel for fantastic views of the city skyline. I'm always a huge fan of hanging out at rooftop bars when in a big city, so this was another huge hit with me! I mean look how pretty! (and ignore how exhausted I look!)
Sunday was time to say goodbye, but not without brunch at my favorite winery in CT! A bunch of us picked up some brunchy food to munch on and headed out to
Gouveia Vineyards to take in the gorgeous views and sample wine over our food. I had hoped to sit outside on the hillside, but it was a rainy day so inside it was with just as beautiful views.
*Last day with lil' bro*
And just like that I found myself back at the airport boarding the plane to go back home. Such an amazing trip, and I already miss all the family and friends I left behind. If you got through the entire thing, you rock! That sure was a huge post.. woof.
