Weekending in Our Beautiful City

As you all know by now, my beautiful city was rocked with a terrible tragedy on Saturday night. Words cannot express how heartbroken I am by the innocent lives that were lost in such a senseless act of hate. I'm lucky to say that all of my friends and family are safe, but there are 50 families right now that cannot say the same. Hate never has and never will solve anything, sending prayers to those affected by this heinous act.

On Thursday, I had the privilege to meet up with some fellow mommas-to-be from The Bar Method studio for a fitting at our local lululemon in preparation for a special event at the store on Saturday morning. We were able to try on pieces that would be great for our growing bellies to showcase at the event while demonstrating the modification moves we do during class to accommodate our changing bodies.

I chose the minimalist crop which was one of the most comfortable pairs of pants I've ever worn. Not only do they fit over my expanding belly, but they provide the support I need during my workouts.

I also hit up the Bath and Body Works semi-annual sale, where I stocked up on soaps, my favorite 3-wick candles, a throw back to middle school with Country Apple shower gel, and the cutest champagne glass soap holder for the kitchen. All of that came out to only $37 with tax, the sale is that good plus I used a $10 off a $40 purchase coupon. Don't go unless you're armed with a coupon for additional savings! Being re-grammed by Bath and Body Works' instagram was an extra bonus!

Friday was nice and mellow with some hit-the-spot pizza, and much needed couch time catching up on Game of Thrones.

Saturday was a jam-packed day starting off with the lululemon and Bar Method event. It was such a great time, and I left even more inspired to continue these great workouts along with some great clothes that fit so much better than my old gear. We all enjoyed ourselves over some cold pressed juices from a local shop, overnight oats, and energy bites. Everything was organic and delish!

Then we ventured downtown to meet up with Pamela, Kerri, and the boys for a yummy brunch which is always a great idea before heading out to do some car shopping since my lease is up next week.

I forgot how exhausting car shopping can be, and I hate negotiating. I let H be the bad guy, but definitely chime in with my two cents to help get to the price range we are hoping for. I've narrowed it down to two favorites: The Acura RDX and the Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited. I was comfortable driving both, love the way they look (not a fan of the recent body style changes on the Honda Pilot and the Toyota Highlander), and am excited for a back up camera. I'm leaning towards the RDX since it'll have better gas mileage and it has better safety ratings. Stay tuned!

I'm glad the rest of your weekend was good, despite the events that took place. Good luck with the decision on the car--it's never easy making a big choice like that, but go with your gut!

  23. Yay for car shopping - how fun! I agree, though - negotiating is a pain in the rear. All you ladies in your workout gear is just too cute with your pregnant bellies - I love that you're dedicated to staying fit and healthy during your pregnancy. Happy Monday, friend!

  24. What a fun bar method even you got to go to!!! And don't get me started on car shopping. Right now I am looking at the Infiniti QX60 and the Ford Explorer. Both have a 5 star safety rating. My in-laws have a new Jeep and they love it. I used to have a jeep in high school and college and had nothing but problems with it so I swore them off for me lol. I haven't looked at Acura. Its a pretty car!!!

  34. Glad you guys are safe! As for cars: I hated my jeep! I bought a Pilot this fall but so agree with you - I do not like the new body style. For that reason, i bought a 2013 instead of new. And I love it! I think my next will be the Acura. I test drove it, too, and J is getting ready to buy one! SO nice! Can't wait to see what you get!

  45. that pizza looks ahhhhmazing. as does the brunch. and i am with you, hate car shopping. we came across a 'mom & pop' type car lot when we were looking for a car for me, and we had been jerked around by so many dealerships that they were a breath of fresh air. they were no nonsense, no haggling, no trying to take advantage of us - i mean they still want to make a profit, but they were the straightest car sales people we'd ever met (and my mum has worked in the car trade, not a sales person! for like 30 years, so i've known a lot of crappy ones!) and we went back to them a year later to get KC a car, and to trade in his old one. i don't think i could ever go back to a big dealership. of course, this was used cars so if i ever want a new one i will have to lol.
Hate never has and never will solve anything - you are so right girl. i am so glad you and your loved ones are safe, but of course i am so sorry for the families that aren't. i am still in shock.

  46. So glad y'all are safe, but sad for the families that can't say the same. That momma-to-be class sounds great and fun! I hate car shopping, I'm gonna have to go when I move to Texas, but am dreading it. I am looking at the Nissen Pathfinder or Toyota Highlander, but haven't test drove anything. I've heard amazing things about the Acura and that white one is so pretty!!
