Wanderlust Wednesday ~ St. Thomas, USVI

One of my favorite ways to travel is cruising (you can read more about why and some of my favorite itineraries and ships here), and I've visited St. Thomas in the USVI a few times on cruise stops. St. Thomas is one of the more expensive islands in the Caribbean to fly into and stay on, so cruising is by far the most affordable way to see the island and explore for the day.
In 2009, I visited St. Thomas for the first time while sailing on Royal Caribbean's Adventure of the Seas. H had been a few times before on cruises with his family, so i was excited to finally check out the island. We booked an excursion through the cruise line called the 1/2 Day Champagne Catamaran Sail to St. John.
Our excursion included a trolley that picked us all up, and brought us to the other side of the island to board the catamaran for the day. The crew was amazing, not only were they informative but they were super fun and kept bringing out food (which was delish) and the drinks flowing. Once we got to St. John, we were able to explore Honeymoon Beach and go snorkeling which was gorgeous. Unfortunately, our "waterproof" camera was not so waterproof and our snorkeling pictures never came out. Once we boarded the catamaran to return to St. Thomas, the drinks started flowing again, the music cranked up, and we had a dance party. They even let me "drive" the boat for a bit. So much fun!

In March of 2015, we arrived in St. Thomas again and this time we decided to explore the island more instead of venturing over to St. John like we did a few years before. One of our friends was also living on the island for a work project, so it was nice to meet up with her and have her show us around the island from a local's point of view.
*Enjoying a cup of coffee on our balcony while pulling into port*

After exploring the port area for a little bit, we headed over to Magens Bay to enjoy the beach and wait for our friend to pick us up.
*We stopped to take a picture of Magens Bay before heading down - gorgeous*

Some rain moved in after our friend met up with us, so we went back to her place for a little bit before heading to the other side of the island to check out one of the local spots.
*View from her place - imagine waking up to that every morning*

*She knew the bartender, so lets just say our drinks were nice and strong*
We were able to take our drinks to-go, and headed back down to the cruise port for one last drink at Mojo's. It's a cute little tiki hut bar right in the port area, and bonus points for it being happy hour when we arrived.

  18. Oh this looks like so much fun! We just did a mini trip... but I've been itching to get back out there already... hehe. The beach sounds SO good right now. :) I haven't ever taken a cruise to somewhere warm. I like the convenience of cruising... but it's so wasteful and it makes me nervous environmentally. I'm a little undecided on whether or not we would take another one. XO - Alexandra
