The Great Concealer Debate

Concealer Comparison

I have been cursed blessed with hereditary dark circles under my eyes, and no matter how much sleep I get they're always there. For years, I just lived with piling on extra foundation under my eyes (hello ghostly eyes in pictures with a flash!), and then I discovered Benefit's Erase Paste at Sephora. Finally a product that could cover up my dark circles and match my skin tone. All I do is take my concealer brush and dab a tiny bit under my eyes and tap it on lightly instead of rubbing it in which creates great coverage. Afterwards, I brush a little powder over it and it blends right in.

Recently, everyone keeps raving about Maybelline's Age Rewind concealer, and I was looking to try it since it appeared to have a less "cakey" consistency to it, plus it's about $20 cheaper than Erase Paste. However, I was pretty disappointed with it. It doesn't provide nearly as much coverage as the Erase Paste or last all day. I was surprised since so many people seem to love it, and I am a loyal user of their Falsies mascara and Baby Lips products.

Erase Paste may be $26 for a little jar, but that little jar lasts me longer than a year plus it works better than any other product I've tried.

What's your concealer of choice?

  1. I've never used either of these products so can't really help there but I do love my Smashbox concealer that I use for blemishes and dark spots. It's not cakey at all and blends in really well.

  2. I have never been able to find a cheap concealer I like more than the expensive ones. I use erase paste too. I've also used Fake Up but I don't like it as much.

  3. I wish Erase Paste matched my skin tone!! I'm somewhere in between the light/medium so I wish they offered more shades. I use Benefit's Fake Up for now and like it, but I'm always on the hunt for a better one. I've heard a lot about this Maybelleine concealer.. too bad it didn't work out!

  4. MAKE UP FOR EVER is my go to. But I suffer from acne and scarring, and it covers it up great!

  5. I am ALL about the benefit products. They are a little pricey, but I feel like they are almost always superior. I am an erase paste fan for sure!

  6. I've recently become interested in makeup and my dark circles under my eyes make me very self conscious. I have been looking for a concealer recommendation and I have heard a lot of great things about Erase Paste. I think I will give it a try!

  7. I don't use the Age rewind but I do use the Maybelline NY Cover Stick Concealer for highlighting and under eye.

  9. I don't wear concealer a lot but when I do I use Clinique. I've had the same compact for way longer then I probably should have because I rarely wear it. It's so nice to find that thing that really works.

  10. Both of those are actually my two favorites! I'm using Erase Paste right now, which I love, but sometimes it takes a few 'pats' under my eyes to get it to really soak in. Like, it's TOO creamy or something. I don't know. I still like it, though.

I love the Maybelline one for the price, that's for sure! And, I actually really like the consistency and coverage, too. It's so easy to apply, and lasts throughout most of the day. I plan on going back to the Maybelline one since my EP is almost out anyway, and I don't have tons of $$ right now to spend on makeup. :( Booo.

  11. Oh yeah! And, I recently tried the Fake Up one, by Benefit, b/c it was in my Birchbox. Waaaay too creamy/lotion-y. It never really soaked into my skin and just felt greasy every time I tried to blend it in. Not a fan!

  12. I'm so glad I read this before purchasing the age rewind because I was going to try it out. I use the Benefit Fake Up and love it so far, keeps my bags moisturized and concealed all day without creasing or caking!
