Disney Cruise ~ Falmouth and Castaway Cay

I'm sad to be wrapping up my cruise recaps, but let's be honest it's been almost a month since we got back and it's time. I recapped the ship here and our first two ports of call in Cozumel, Mexico and the Cayman Islands here. Last, but most certainly not least is Falmouth, Jamaica and Castaway Cay in the Bahamas.

After two busy days in a row in Cozumel and in Grand Cayman, we were looking forward to a relaxing day in the port area while in Falmouth, Jamaica. We enjoyed room service breakfast (always free on a cruise) on the balcony where I could see the beautiful Margaritaville pool and couldn't wait to get down there and claim a lounger for the day.

We did some exploring and shopping before setting up camp for the day at Margaritaville. Lil' miss danced her way through the village to some local music, helped pick out some souvenirs, and was super excited to get to the pool once we settled in and ordered some lunch.

After a relaxing day at sea, we arrived in Castaway Cay which is Disney's private island in the Bahamas. We got off the ship nice and early so that my friend and I could run the Castaway Cay 5k. She threw the idea out there a few months ago, and I laughed it off thinking there was no way I would do a 5k while on vacation. I decided to look into it a few weeks later, saw that it was 100% free (yes please!) and I would get a coveted Run Disney medal at the end. That combined with the thought of doing a 5k in the Bahamas sold me.

*This is what 2 crazy people look like about to run a 5k on vacation*

*Drenched in sweat with our medals*

*Mt. Rustmore*

*The BBQ lunch on the island is DELISH*

After having been to Norwegian Cruise Line's private island (Great Stirrup Cay) a few years ago, I figured Castaway Cay would be similar. Boy was I WRONG! I mean - it's Disney. Of course it was amazing down to every little detail. The beach didn't feel crowded, and it was easy for all 4 adults to get a lounger under an umbrella. Each lounger also came with a beach chair in front of it to sit in while the kiddos played in the sand.

There was SO much to do on the island, several souvenir shops, bars, a splash pad, water slides, yoga on the beach, a kid's club, and even an adult's only beach. The 5k was on the bike trail (yes, you can even rent bikes and explore the island), and the BBQ lunch was amazing. I'd book another Disney cruise just to go back to Castaway Cay.
